Day 2: What Fashion TV Needs

Television is full of fashion related shows: Project Runway, What Not to Wear, How Do I look?, Mad Fashion, and so on. But do you know what fashion television lacks?

A budget makeover show. A show that makes over the fashion-challenged with fashions from stores regular middle and lower class people can afford. The problem with shows like What Not to Wear and How Do I Look? is the fact that they reclothe the participants in boutique wear: fashions that most of America can't comfortably afford. It makes a lot of women (and men) feel like great fashion sense is not obtainable, atleast not reasonably.

So what if we have a fashion make over show that is partnered with a low budget, or atleast reasonably budgeted store, such as Macy's, JC Penney, or even Wal-Mart or Target. Then viewers can more realistically see themselves as fashionistas. This could also open up the market for such shows sense the intimidation of cost can prevent people from watching shows that indicate how to dress better. it could be a "What Not to Wear: Budget Edition" Hmm..maybe that'll be a good section of this blog..Let's try that out below.

What Not to Wear: on a Budget
Everyday Shoes for the Office

Just Say No

Birkenstock clogs may have been in at some point, but it's not 1998 anymore and wearing these to the office (or anywhere for that matter) is just plain sloppy.

Platform heels at work? Leave the "sexy" at the pole, ladies.

Grandma called..why the hell did you steal her shoes? They might seem comfortable to work all day in, but don't. Just don't.

Day 1: History of the Stiletto Heel

"I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him alot"
Marilyn Monroe

Let's start this blog with a history lesson in one of the most crucial parts of a jaw dropping outfit: The Stiletto Heel.

"High heels were invented by a woman who had been kissed on the forehead."
Christopher Morley
Quick Facts

Named after the stiletto dagger

Defined as a long, thin, high heel on a shoe, typically a woman's shoe

Definite time of invention is uncertai. However, by the 19th century, stilettos were obviously popular.

The actual original maker of the stiletto isn't certain, but Roger Vivier is often credited with the invention of the stiletto. He invented it by encasing a thin steel rod in wood or plastic to support the wearer's weight.

You can find his shoes on display in the following museums: Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY, The Louvre in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

If a heel is less than 5cm in height, it is called a "kitten" heel.

Stiletto heels come in a variety of shoe, such as box-toed pumps, pointed-toed pumps, open-toed pumps, boots, booties, sandals and more.

All I want are high heels, high heels. If I was a girl, I'd wear a lot of high heels. High, stiletto heels.
